IHOP was founded in 1958 by its three owners with the help of two other people in the Los Angeles neighborhood. Later in 1960, they began offering opportunities to the public for the IHOP franchise. First, it was only a breakfast restaurant that was further expanded in the 1980s by adding lunch and dinner items. In December 2019, IHOP announced to launch a chain of fast-casual breakfast restaurants called Flip’d.
